Ultimate Frisbee Story

The sport of ultimate Frisbee has been here since 1967. While just hanging out, a group of university students came up with the pastime. Frisbee was already commonly played there and they wanted to make it more competitive for their own entertainment. One of the kids had the name of Joel Silver and he helped to spread the game further when he transferred to a university in Lafayette in the year 1970.

Colleges started to compete against each other in Ultimate Frisbee in the year of 1972. There were only a few teams during those first couple of years but the thrill of the pastime spread rapidly. Shortly after in the year 1975, more than 20 teams were competing against each other. By 1979 things had grown so much that regions were drawn so that teams could play against those locally. The best teams would be allowed at the end to compete to see who was the best team of the year.
